My Geeky classmates are just that Moms gone Geek, there are no words to describe the fun we have while learning new social tools. We get homework but not like school work but like assignments. We are busy with a major project where we need to get votes for Table Mountain to become one of the seven wonders of the world. When we were given the one week off from class all the ladies related that they did not know what to do with themselves as this was not normal. We are excited as we will be going out of class and do what you call a social surgery where we interact with people and show them how to open email accounts and get them to vote as well. Looking really forward to that as i am getting involved in the church's blog and social media, lots of work but worth it in the end. Getting to meet loads of people and getting close with special friends like my classmates and facilitators at Rlabs. I believe each one of us have grown and think outside the box now, we have very creative ideas and are more open to suggestions.

Worth The Wait
I predicted at the end of last year that 2011 was going to be my year of good changes and boy did i think i was ready for it! I prayed and was very specific what i wanted to change in my life and work, i was going through a tough time were i would cry every day and it was so bad that i asked my husband if i could not work and stayed at home.
God is an amazing person and knows our hearts and i was wondering why is he taking so long to answer my prayer but i knew it was all in his time and not mine. Not only did i get a job by chance as i just inquired about it out of curiosity and went for an interview. The job entailed everything i wanted to do and get and the first thing i said was "Thank You Lord" your time is perfect. I am getting to learn more which is becoming another passion in my life and that is Social Media, i am currently involved in the Geeky Mom class where we learn how to set up a blog from scratch. I love being involved in empowering women and seeing there faces when they have learn t something new. The Rlabs are doing an amazing job and are always there to hear of an idea out of the box. I am now excited what my new ventures are going to lead me and i will excel what i am going to be involved in.

My Thoughts on the New Volvo V60
On first glance it looks like a real family car with the S60's beauty, this vehicle is for corporate moms that needs a luxury vehicle for work and the station wagon for the kids all in one!
This is no ordinary vehicle, it looks like the baby of the xc60, bigger than the v50 but smaller than the XC60. I found that alot of customers never liked Volvo's and were big on BMW, Audi and Mercedes until they drove in one and as Volvo SA says "Touch it, Live it, drive it". This vehicle is set up with all the Safety and innovative systems that Volvo is proud of, and for me as a mother safety if important with kids and i am so into Innovation right now. This vehicle does not only look out for your safety but also for the pedestrians, it has a Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake. So for those that don't under stand what i just said, this system detects pedestrians as you drive at speeds up to 35 km/h and if a potential hazard is detected, the brakes are automatically applied. What i pick up from this is the vehicles need to keep up to date with the world, new technology is coming out everyday and like our computers that is upgraded with a blink of an eye so must our vehicles be.
Now you can also monitor and control your car's security with a feature know as a Personal Car Communicator. It comes in 15 colours to choose from and a range of alloy wheel to match your vehicle of choice. Believe what you see and trust what you know!

Zambia Boys on Holiday
Augustine,Luxon and Calvyn are boys who walked from Zambia to Cape Town at the age of fourteen. they are currently living at the Multi Recreational Centre in Salt River where we do ministry work every Wednesday.

December 2010 there were nine boys who still needed to be placed for the holidays and Chris and Ursula Boonzaaier family decided to take into there homes these three boys aged between 14 and 17 years old. They enjoyed Christmas lunch with them and going into the New Year as well as other outings like a trip to the Farmyard, Movies, Swimming and the games Arcade. They enjoyed having the boys for the holidays getting to know them and their cultures. Augustine loves to learn and always willing to teach the younger boys what he knows, he also loves writing songs. Augustine has a real passion for God and knows if God can take him out where he was he can do anything.

Luxon is a very quiet person and does not talk much but has a very gentle spirit, he longs to go back home to his family in Zambia. Calvyn is a scout leader in Zambia, very creative person and loves training with the weights. He loves his Zambia "pap" and is very talkative and has lots of questions about everything and misses his sister very much.
Chris and Ursula was really blessed having the boys by them for the holidays and trust that there will be other opportunities to do it again.

A Day Of Fun!

We surprised some of the kids from Blikkies Dorp and the Multi Recreational Centre in Pickwick street Salt river after church on Sunday telling them we were taking them to the movies.
We spent the day having lunch first and then went off to see a movie, the children were very excited having to choose which movie that wanted to see. Having different age groups not all could watch th same movie so we split into two groups, Deon went with the younger ones to watch Megamind and Chris and Ursula went with the older group watched ' The Tourist'.

Our daughters bonded with the girls from Blikkies Dorp and it was nice to see how children can just be children and forget about everything else and enjoy themselves. We have been doing ministries for five years but it seems that God is really moving and touching the children as they are the ones that comes to church and don't want to miss a Sunday or an opportunity to come to the Impact Centre to learn more about the Holy Spirit!

What Lies Ahead for 2011!
Wow, what a year it has been, there were highs and there were low. It has been a tough year for me but at the end of it some exciting things happened that changed my outlook on things.
I am excited for 2011 has to offer me, i know that God has heard my prayers and he will come through at the right time. The Rlabs new office space is quiet exciting knowing i will be apart of changing other women lives the way mine was changed through social networking. It is amazing the attention you get if they think you part of the Network medias because the other day i had my MXit t-shirt on and was by cellphone network and one of the workers asked me if i work for Mxit.. i had to laugh. Girls stop me and tell me they love my sweater, i felt so important :)
My philosophy for this year is to take every opportunity by the horns and give it the best that i have to offer. I am going to be learning about setting up my own Domain but still thinking of a name for it. I know it will be a name that will become very successful and who knows maybe my dream to travel the world will become a reality!

The Great Need in Blikkies Dorp

We are a group of people doing outreach in Salt River for five years, working with homeless people. We fed and clothed them and built up personal relationships.
Over the past five years some of them were re-united with their families and others found places of employment and are now off the street. Fire destroyed Auntie Thelma a 65year old woman's informal home and we helped rebuild it for her. Since then with the World Cup taking place they were all relocated to Blikkies Dorp in Delft.

We did not give up on them when they moved there but instead saw an open window to reach out to more people. It is overwhelming to see the level of poverty that some people live with and one also realises how grateful one should be with the things we do have and stop whining and complaining about what we don't have.
When you think of people living in poverty we always seem to think of the grownups and seem to forget that for every couple there are three to four children that are affected as well. So in Blikkies Dorp most of our feeding schemes are specifically for the children. It does not matter how much food you make it is never enough for everyone. The majority of people in Blikkies Dorp are children aged between two years and sixteen.

Our heart goes out for the people of Blikkies Dorp and we trust that in the future we will be able to do even more than what we are currently doing! You can give a man a fish and he will eat for one day but teach a man to fish and he will have food for a lifetime.

Servicing Your Vehicle On The Last Moment
I cannot believe how customers wake up on the last minute to service there vehicles, i think i can write a book with all the sly ways they want to get squeezed in.
Let me give you some tips how not to wait on the last minute to service your vehicle:
Tip 1 : Make a booking way ahead of time, i do believe that is what you have to do if you booking
accommodation especially this time of year.
Tip 2 : Make sure your tyres are in good condition and you do not have to go to the Agents to
have new ones fitted because they will take it to for eg. Tiger Wheel and charge you a
mark up on the price.
Tip 3 : If you have a maintenance plan on your vehicle and something is wrong with your vehicle
don't wait till your service is due, take advantage of you plan and use it.
If your vehicle is towed into a company because it broke down, please don't expect any answer on your vehicle the same day as other vehicles was booked and have to be attended to first and if they do get to your car the same day it is a bonus. Please be patient as the workshop tries to make every customer happy especially this time of year where without your transport you cannot enjoy your holiday.
I remember one customer phoned in when we were fully booked for two weeks and wanted his car serviced on the Saturday and finish by twelve. Now the problem with this is of course we don't work on Saturday, and the other is the demanding way it was told to us. So the next time you go and make an appointment for your vehicle, please be considerate as we take alot from customers everyday and have to take it in with a smile. :)

Trying out my new NoteBook
As i am wiping my eyes every morning from the tiredness of being awake the night before staying late on my New Notebook and 3G card. I don't even know what time it is sometimes when i am surfing the Net and Blogging.
Keeping up with what i have missed on Twitter and Facebook and responding to my friends that dropped me a mail or tweet. RLabs Graduation
What an awesome night it was, leaving work early so that i could get ready for my graduation from social media. I felt like a school girl again with butterflies in my stomach in anticipation as to what was to come.
When i rocked up at the event and saw the the Hotel was overlooking the sea, wow what a view! I was excited to see everyone dressed up and looking gorgeous for our graduation and just a reason for putting something nice on. The wind was blowing but that did not put us off and we enjoyed seeing each other and catching up. I started my day on a exciting note when i got a call to say i was a winner in a competition that i entered via Facebook so it was just a cherry on the top. If it were not for the Rlabs then i would not even be on Facebook and the other networks, i am so grateful for them for giving me the tools and equipping me with the Technology.
So now that i am equipped all i can say is watch this space!

Test Driving The New S60 T6
So guess who got to test drive the New S60 T6, what a privilege it is for me to give my perspective from a women's point of view. The curves on this vehicle is so sexy and what girl is not looking for that, but make no mistake, one of the safety items is that it can stop itself at any speed - even at speeds as high as 200 km/h.
I felt so comfortable in the car, it feels like laying on your bed but just you sitting upright. Volvo had utilised new innovative technology , for example, the new function on this vehicle that monitors the car's behaviour with high precision to further enhance stability in sharp cornering and rapid lateral movements. That is just one of the many safe items on this vehicle, it is like the vehicle thinks for itself. And if you're in for more dynamics, just activate the DSTC Sport Mode in the on-board menu system. For the men this vehicle pushes 304 horsepower but i could not go so fast on our roads bus is 220 close, don't tell my work or husband. What can i say i like fast cars, this vehicle comes in petrol as well as diesel.
This vehicle reminds me of my cellphone that is my life as that keeps me equipped with social networks, now this vehicle has an on board technology that can be controlled by your steering wheel to personalise your settings. So as i am driving and i enter a road that has allot of pot holes and i hate that because me having a baby that is fast asleep and you hit that hole she wakes up and disturbs her sleep. Not with this car, it feels like you gliding over the road and not feeling any bumps or holes, can i please move into this vehicle!
Let me tell you more about the Technology of this vehicle, it has Radar-guided brakes that help you go faster. Is that a good thing, well in this case it is because it helps you maintain a comfortable speed and a safe distance from vehicles ahead. And that is at any speed - whether in heavy traffic queues or at open highway speeds. I have experienced that and it is awesome, this vehicle creates allot of Whiplash when other drivers hurt themselves to look at this Fantastic car. This vehicle car also peek around corners with the new front Park assist Camera this makes parking in tight spots easier for us women.
So now i look for any reason to take the S60 on the road for the pure enjoyment and luxury of it. This vehicle has a huge entertainment system in it but that is for another time!

Last Mom 3.0 Class For 2010!
Monique was not here as she was sick with a sore throat but she was missed very much, it will be sad not to get up on a Saturday morning and get ready to come to class. It was a treat for me as i enjoyed having me time away from home and the kids. I will have to do all my networking from my cellphone from now or wait till work where i can go on the laptop. The ladies in the class are like family to me, we have been together for the year and it does not feel so long. Oh well we are connected on Facebook, twitter etc.. and wont loose touch. We are already talking about coming next year and are like little kids when they going to the next Grade.
So this is not goodbye but us being set free to use the tools we are given and empower other people we know and meet. So thank you to the team at RLabs for equipping me with your knowledge and keep on doing what you love.
I will definitely see you next year and who know what lies ahead for each one of us because of this!

THE NEW VOLVO S60 LAUNCH
As I pulled up by my work you could feel the vibe that something is happening, part of the parking lot was closed especially for
the VIP customers that was invited to the Launch of the New S60. Excitement was buzzing and like little children going camping they stand around talking and waiting in anticipation for what the day had to bring.
The the double Decker bus pulled up and everyone eyes was on the black and red huge thing pulling up by our Dealership. This bus was going to transport everyone to the Launch site and where the demonstration was going to take place. The inside was fitted out like a limousine, white leather seats and a flat screen TV. And then as we thought it could not get better they pull out the new S60 from the show room. As they paraded it pass the customer all heads turned and the saying that they use "Naughty" is exactly what they are.

The day was a complete success with happy customers and a fun morning. The Naughty Volvo's was showing off there stuff and was loving every bit of it. The safety was this vehicle was not forgotten as Volvo always have in mind when the manufacture a new product. How much more can we do to make sure our customers are safer on the road and still have a Glamorous vehicle. Well this vehicle does that all in one, as you drive this vehicle in the town area and something or someone will pop out of nowhere and hit you the vehicle is made to slow down or stop immediately and when all is clear you don't have to do anything as the car will start up again and start moving. Wow, it thinks for you and the people on the road. The look is dynamic and snazzy, all heads will be turning when you pull up with this vehicle.

How Much I Am Loving Social Media
Where do i start, I found out about the classes through my mother in law that was more clued up than me and doing more on her phone than me. All i new was to answer the phone and dial out but then i decided to do the next class at the RLABS and was not disappointed, now i cannot stop exercising my talents that i was taught and the friends that i have gotten to know better is amazing.
There are people that i only see and don't speak to easily but on Face book and Twitter you are not shy and the next time you meet you chat more openly. It also keeps you up to date with what is happening around you like events happening. I can say i am addicted to social media because if i don't go on it everyday i feel loss. I also love twitter and love to re tweet important items that i want others to take note of..
I love blogging, it relaxes me allot and makes me feel good to share some information. I feel that the next year is going to bring alot of surprises and openings for me which i am looking forward to and welcoming with open arms. I though i was the only lady in MOM 3.0 that felt this way but apparently not, one of these days they will have to have a social media addiction classes for addicts!!!!

True Friend
I met my true friend in grade 1, she started in the middle of the year because she broke her leg and it was in a cast. She sat on a chair every linch time infront of the class.
Nobody wanted to bother with her because she was very overeweight and quiet but that did not bother me. I stood up for her and that is when it started that we would be bound forever. We wait for each other going to school and walking home. We loved fashion and she took up piano lessons and i stayed with her behind school so she could practice. We were inseprable and even when i got married there was nothing that could keep us apart. We spoke about how we going to begetting old together and she never did loose her weight no matter how hard she tried but i could not want her any other way. She was the kindest, caring person on earth and even got her drivers licence even though her father did not allow her to. If you have not noticed i am using the "was" because she passed away at the age of 29 from a heart attack and the sad part is that i spoke to her a few minutes before it happened. That was my ,True friend that i will not forget..

My Story
I feel i need to tell you about where i was and what i have accomplished, i met my husband while still on school so that makes him my high school sweetheart. I fell pregnant while i was busy doing my matric and that time you have to get married, so we got married in the month July with me being seven months pregnant.
Not the ideal wedding a girl dreams of but i loved every bit on such sort notice, i had the dress the bridesmaid and my father giving me off. When my father found out he never spoke to me until my wedding day which i understood but i knew then that i was going to make something of myself. I never left school even though the shame of being pregnant i wanted to finish my matric. In September i gave birth to a baby girl and did not finish exams but my aggregate was high enough for me to pass.
I went back to school two week later to school to finish even though my breast was so full with milk that it was leaking through my school shirt by the time i got home. I passed matric and went to my matric ball and knew that i needed this not for myself anymore but for my daughter. I started my work career by filing at the BMW dealership and my aim was to perfect any job i was given. That is exactly what i did and took note of each and everyone job that if i think back it was by Gods grace that the person to cost job cards up did not come in and they wanted to know if anyone knew how to do his work.
This was the start of my career breakthrough, i costed job cards then worked my way up to become the Service Manager of a dealership, the only coloured and second women in the motor trade. I experienced also going to Egypt with my husband which was an experience i will never forget. I am a real testament for what you can do with your life when you had a teenage pregnancy, today i have three beautiful girls that i adore and cannot see my life without them.

A Mother finds out her son has Autism
What goes through a persons mind when the doctor says your child has Autism, you will wonder if it was something you ate while being pregnant or did i look after myself properly. That is what was going through my friend mind when it happened to her.
My friend gave up her job to take care of her son and understand to needs that he needed. She cried for days wondering why this has happened and just wanted to hold him and say it will be okay. Her husband was there for her and told her it will be okay, he was the only child at the time and the thought of having another child did not cross her mind for being afraid the same will occur. You had to do nothing out of the ordinary everyday and prepare him if you were going to the movies the Saturday. He did not get well on with other kids but they are very soft. I always say that only strong parents can handle these kids and my friend is definitly one of them. He is in a special school for Autistic kids and there are not alot around besides it being so expensive. Not teacher can come in and teach, you must have been in the field for these children to qualify.
My friend is working again and has a little girl that does not have Autism, i look at her when she speaks about her son when he just climbed a tree. We take these simple things that i children do for granted. When he exels in something then she is in tears and you cannot help to cry with her. These women are amazing in my eyes and i take my hat off for them!
